On a cold winter night in 2007, Sarah[Alt Text: Sarah, a young woman with long dark hair and brown eyes] and her boyfriend Ben[Alt Text: Ben, a young man with short blonde hair and blue eyes] were driving home from a party. The roads were icy and the snow was coming down hard. Sarah was driving and Ben was in the passenger seat. They were both tired and just wanted to get home and get into bed.
As they were driving down a dark and desolate road, they saw a figure standing in the middle of the road. Sarah slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. They hit the figure and it went flying through the air. Sarah and Ben got out of the car and ran to the figure. They were horrified to see that it was a young girl.
The girl was lying on the ground, unconscious. Sarah and Ben tried to wake her up, but she didn't respond. They called 911 and the paramedics arrived a few minutes later. The paramedics took the girl to the hospital, but she never regained consciousness. She died a few hours later.
Sarah and Ben were devastated. They couldn't believe that they had killed someone. They went to the police station and gave their statements. The police said that it was an accident and that they wouldn't be charged with anything.
But Sarah and Ben couldn't shake the feeling that they were responsible for the girl's death. They knew that they should have been paying more attention to the road. They should have seen the girl sooner. They should have been able to stop the car in time.
Sarah and Ben's lives were changed forever that night. They couldn't stop thinking about the girl they had killed. They couldn't stop wondering what her life would have been like if they hadn't hit her. They couldn't stop feeling guilty.
A few months after the accident, Sarah and Ben decided to write a book about their experience. They wanted to share their story with others in the hopes that it would help them avoid making the same mistakes that they had made.
